PROPOSITION 8 - CALIFORNIA MARRIAGE AMENDMENT Supreme Court Rules for California Homosexual Marriage! In a 4-3 ruling, the California Supreme Court ruled that Proposition 22 which defined marriage as between a man and a woman in California unconstitutional. Proposition 22 was passed by the voters in 2000 with 61.4% of the voters placing into law the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman. The court's decision is now in effect and gay marriages are now being performed in California. This November the people of California will have the opportunity to vote on the constitutional marriage amendment on the November ballot. "This decision makes passing the Marriage Protection Act on the November ballot imperative if we are to save marriage in California," said Larry Pegram, President of the Values Advocacy Council. "Traditional marriage is the bedrock of the family and our society. If judicial activists and liberal legislators redefine marriage, our families and our culture will suffer irreparable damage." "The time has come for people of values to unite, organize and pass the Marriage Protection Act in November," said Pegram. We will be sending updates as new information surfaces.
