How will our Values be represented?

How will our voices be heard?

ONLY IF WE VOTE!

In 2000 the Barna Group, headed by George Barna, found that less than 50% of those sitting in church on Sunday morning were registered to vote...and only half of those that were registered had actually voted in the last election! It hasn't gotten much better since then.

David Barton, head of Wallbuilders and probably the nation's preeminent Christian historian, said, "Those holding public office do not reflect the values of the electorate; they merely represent the values of those voting in the last election."

If biblical values and our right to freely express our views, religious and otherwise, are to be reflected in public policy decisions, we must elect people of values to public positions. We do that by being registered to vote, becoming informed about the issues on our ballot and the positions held by those that wish to represent us, and then...by voting our values.

The Values Advocacy Council and its legislative arm, VAC Action, have launched a Values Voter Registration Campaign to register 5,000 new voters in Silicon Valley.

Additionally, VAC Action will publish it's Values Voter Guide before the June and November elections to help Values Voters in Silicon Valley understand the positions of candidates for public office and the Propositions that will appear on the ballot.

And finally, we will be working with Values Voter Church Captains to make sure that Values Voters cast their ballots in each election.

We can make a difference! Especially in those all important School Board and City Council elections where just a few more votes can turn the tide for a candidate with strong family values.

Click here for more details and how you can help!

The Values Advocacy Council is gearing up for the effort! We will need to:

  • Recruit a Values Voter Church Captain in each church
  • Distribute Voter Registration forms to each church
  • Make sure those registering know how to fill out the form correctly to ensure that they are properly registered
  • Prepare and distribute Values Voter Guides in time for Values Voter Nights in churches
  • Help the Values Voter Church Captains with their effort to get Values Voters to cast their ballots...either by mail or at the polls on Election Day.
And then do it all over again in November!

If we're going to make a difference, we need your help! Volunteer today!

This is a labor intensive effort...as well as an expensive effort to prepare all of the collateral materials and the Values Voter Guides.

We have raised $25,000 specifically for this Campaign already...with one condition...that we raise another $25,000 to fully fund our $50,000 budget for the Values Voter Registration Campaign.

Will you help? Can you help us with this match grant by making a gift today?

This $50,000 is in addition to our planned operating budget for 2012. Our Board of Directors and I believe it is vitally important that we make our voices heard at a time such as this. We ask you today to help us with this all important work.

OUR VALUES HAVE NEVER BEEN UNDER ATTACK AS THEY ARE TODAY!

If we don't stand now, when will we stand?
